THE DEER BELLOW
Every year, with the arrival of autumn, Asturian forests host one of the most remarkable spectacles of wildlife: the deer bellow. Large deer (Cervus elaphus), at their peak of sexual tension, claim with hoarse howls for the presence of females capable of being mated. At dawn and dusk, the deer proclaim their virility to the four winds and it is not strange to hear them, even more intensely on humid days and fine rains, in open clearings in the thick of the Asturian deciduous forest. If you like autumn, we have what you are looking for!
The excursion begins after meeting your guide in the picturesque village of Espinaredo, which we soon leave to head for the mountains. The adventure begins here! With everything we need in our backpacks we now ascend through the forest and enjoy its smell and sounds. We have quickly bridged the gap that separated us from the deer and we settled in to start looking for the animals.
From our viewpoint, we listen and watch the deer until sunset, when, like daylight, it comes to an end. You’ll love it!
