Once upon a time, there was a holly forest that seemed enchanted, surrounded by slender meadows and high mountains that separated it from the neighboring beech forest and protected it from the winds and visitors, it was the domain of the Agüeria grassland! This remote area of the central Asturian mountain deserves a visit for its beauty but above all for its uniqueness. Tighten the laces of your boots and let yourself go!
Our starting point is the privately owned village of Lindes, in the middle of the extensive beech forest that will guide our first steps. The route begins by going up small ramps on the way to Peña Rueda but soon moves away from this mountain to run through the beautiful area of Foz Grande (river gorge), where golden eagles, wildcats or chamois can be seen in their natural habitat.
To reach our goal we still have to cross the river twice and grit our teeth because now we have to save the biggest slope that will take us to the foot of Peña Arpín, the best viewpoint over the Agüeria meadows. Shall we continue? It is really worth it because now is the time to cross the grasslands and enjoy its botanical originality your guide´s explanations.
